China tech tensions may turn off U.S. allies, State Dept. official warns

ASPEN, Colorado -- Stoking the flames of the U.S.-China tech rivalry risks alienating allies, a U.S. State Department official warns, although the issue remains a priority for the next American administration.

The words of caution came on Tuesday at the Technology Policy Institute's forum in Aspen, Colorado, where American tech policymakers gathered to debate how tech regulations could be affected, depending on whether Republican candidate, former President Donald Trump or his Democratic counterpart, Vice President Kamala Harris, wins the November presidential election.
