Thaksin's Chiang Mai trip shakes faith of hometown loyalists
CHIANG MAI, Thailand -- Early on Friday morning, a group of European tourists were told to hurry up the stairs of Doi Suthep, the iconic mountaintop temple in Chiang Mai.
"It's not always like this," said their tour guide, gesturing to the large crowd of photographers and well-wishers in red shirts. "Someone very important is coming."
