Thailand's Move Forward members prepare new party after ban
BANGKOK -- The members of Thailand's largest opposition party, Move Forward, are ready to set up a new political group after the Constitutional Court ordered the progressive party to dissolve, triggering concerns over the nation's democracy.
Move Forward, which won the most seats in last year's general election but failed to form a government, was dissolved by the court on Wednesday over its campaign advocacy to amend the country's lese-majeste law. The court also banned the party's 11 executives, including former leader Pita Limjaroenrat, from politics for 10 years.
