Thai court acquits ex-PM Yingluck in last pending case

BANGKOK -- Thailand's Supreme Court on Monday unanimously acquitted Yingluck Shinawatra in the last pending case brought by the country's anti-corruption watchdog, revoking an arrest warrant and virtually clearing the way for the self-exiled former prime minister's homecoming.

The National Anti-Corruption Commission filed charges against Yingluck in 2022 over events that took place between 2013 and 2014, before she was removed as prime minister. The watchdog alleged Yingluck had granted publicity rights to two newspapers for an infrastructure roadshow without an open bidding process, misallocating 240 million baht ($6.7 million) of public funds.
