Sports brands in China turn in uneven performance despite Olympic year
HONG KONG -- The Chinese Olympic team bagged a lead-tying 40 gold medals at the Summer Games in Paris, but the nation's sporting goods companies are turning in mixed results as concerns over sluggish consumption persist.
A bright spot in the first half was Anta Sports Products, one of the largest homegrown Chinese brands. The company on Tuesday evening said its interim revenue grew 13.8% on the year to 33.73 billion yuan ($7.13 billion), while net profit jumped by 62.6% to 7.72 billion yuan.
