Singapore hooks Taiwan companies shunning China's investors

SINGAPORE -- Taiwanese companies have raised a charm offensive in Singapore, chasing investors in the city-state as China's persistent threats amid cross-strait tensions increase the risks of engaging Chinese markets, diverting attention to the Southeast Asian hub.

At least two Taiwanese delegations held business missions to Singapore in April, after Taiwan's January presidential election saw Lai Ching-te of the island's pro-sovereignty Democratic Progressive Party win. Beijing regards Lai as a troublemaker.
