Japan, U.S., Philippines to cooperate in clean energy, chips: Kishida
TOKYO -- Japan, the U.S. and the Philippines "will work together to proceed with trilateral cooperative projects," including in semiconductors, digital, communication networks, clean energy and critical minerals, Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida told Nikkei ahead of a summit with the leaders of the two countries next week in Washington.
Speaking in an interview with Nikkei on Thursday, Kishida said that the world is entering a "new phase" and Japan needs to show a bigger presence and "take greater responsibility" to provide options for countries in Southeast Asia such as the Philippines.
