Japan's Rapidus to get state loan guarantees for 2-nm chip facility
TOKYO -- Japan's government plans to offer loan guarantees for state-backed chipmaker Rapidus as the company pursues bank funding for the mass production of advanced semiconductors, Nikkei has learned.
Rapidus looks to produce the cutting-edge 2-nanometer chips on the northern island of Hokkaido by 2027, at an estimated cost of 5 trillion yen ($31.8 billion).
