Beyblade series evolves into a sport enjoyed by people of all ages

TOKYO -- The Beyblade family of spinning battle tops keeps evolving even as Japanese toy maker Tomy marked their 25th anniversary this year.

The superacceleration Beyblade X, the fourth generation of the family, has become a big hit, with 5 million sold in less than a year following its release. Tomy has introduced a system to award points to users each time they play, encouraging them to play more and win enough points to acquire rare blades. Points issued so far total 6.5 billion.
