'Women should be involved' in conflict recovery: U.S. special envoy
TOKYO -- Geeta Rao Gupta, the U.S. ambassador-at-large for global women's issues, told reporters in Tokyo last week that "women should also be involved in the recovery and rebuilding efforts" from conflicts everywhere, including Asia.
"Japan and the U.S. can advocate other countries" to increase their budgets for "women, peace and security" (WPS) initiatives, Gupta said, citing a concept that focuses on the participation of women in the processes of preventing and resolving conflicts.
