Wang warns Blinken that negatives in U.S.-China ties are 'building'
HONG KONG/TOKYO -- U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken emphasized the need to avoid "miscalculations" as he met Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi in Beijing on Friday, before the two held talks behind closed doors and ahead of an expected meeting with President Xi Jinping.
Wang told his guest that U.S.-China relations had "stabilized" but that negative factors were "building," warning that allowing the tensions to devolve into conflict would be a "lose-lose" proposition for both powers.
