HANOI -- A power struggle in Vietnam's ruling Communist Party could be about to intensify with all eyes on powerful but ailing General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, whose duties have been taken over by President To Lam.
The party Politburo announced the decision Thursday, citing the need for Trong to prioritize treatment of his health problems.
