Uber drivers and others help crack down on illegal bicycle parking in Japan
NAGOYA, Japan -- Nagoya, which has the largest number of abandoned bicycles in Japan, is seeing a private company take action against unlawful bicycle parking on private property.
Although city contractors have increased measures, including prompt removal of unattended bicycles without warning, there has been no notable drop in illegally parked bicycles. To tackle this issue, a private-sector initiative has begun, mobilizing certified individuals such as delivery workers and housewives to detect unlawfully parked bicycles.
