U.S. national security adviser has rare meeting with top China general
TOKYO -- U.S. national security adviser Jake Sullivan on Thursday met with Zhang Youxia, vice chairman of China's Central Military Commission, reaffirming the importance of communication between the rival powers' armed forces.
Wrapping up a three-day visit to Beijing aimed at stabilizing frayed ties, Sullivan stressed that both countries have a responsibility to prevent competition from veering into conflict or confrontation, according to the White House.
