Tokyo, Seoul should boost ties, aim at larger market: Yoon adviser

TOKYO -- Japan and South Korea should boost economic cooperation to expand their presence in the global market, going beyond encouraging trade among themselves, according to a foreign policy adviser for South Korea's President Yoon Suk Yeol.

"We are at a stage where a high-growth economy is over in this region, so how to make our economy sustainable is the issue," said Park Cheol-hee, chancellor of the Korea National Diplomatic Academy (KNDA), a government think tank. He spoke with Nikkei Asia on the sidelines of the Future of Asia forum on May 24 in Tokyo.
