Thailand's Move Forward Party lays out defense against dissolution
BANGKOK -- Facing disbandment and a lifetime political ban on its leaders, Thailand's main opposition party said the Constitutional Court lacks the authority to dissolve political parties despite the same court's order to dissolve its predecessor in 2020.
The Move Forward Party said the constitution limits the court's authority to reviewing the validity of laws and complaints against elected officials. The court has ordered the disbandment of several parties over the past two decades, including three iterations of the ruling Pheu Thai party.
