Thai parliament convenes to select Srettha Thavisin's successor
BANGKOK -- The Thai parliament has convened to select a prime minister after Srettha Thavisin was removed from office by the Constitutional Court on Wednesday.
The ruling Pheu Thai Party, which has 141 seats in the 500-member lower house, proposed Paetongtarn Shinawatra -- the 37-year-old youngest daughter of Thaksin Shinawatra, a former prime minister and the party's founder -- for the top post.
