Thai court accepts petition seeking to disband Move Forward Party
BANGKOK -- Thailand's Constitutional Court on Wednesday said it has accepted a petition filed by election authorities seeking to dissolve the opposition Move Forward Party, with the party's proposal to amend the country's lese-majeste laws being interpreted as an attempt to overthrow the country's constitutional monarchy regime.
The Election Commission of Thailand filed the case with the court on March 12, saying it had found "reasonable evidence" that the party's policies and former leader Pita Limjaroenrat had sought to overthrow the monarchy by proposing the amendment.
