Thai Constitutional Court allows Pita to keep parliamentary seat
BANGKOK -- The Constitutional Court of Thailand on Wednesday ruled in favor of Pita Limjaroenrat, rejecting a complaint that would have disqualified the former Move Forward Party leader from serving as a member of parliament over holdings in a defunct media company.
Thailand's Constitution bans any person holding shares "in any newspaper or mass media business" from standing for election to the House of Representatives. The court found that ITV Public Co., the company in question, has not derived income from media operations since 2007, before Pita first filed for candidacy in the 2019 general election.
