Taiwan chipmaker PSMC opens plant with eye on AI semiconductors
MIAOLI, Taiwan -- Powerchip Semiconductor Manufacturing Corp. (PSMC) on Thursday opened a facility in northwestern Taiwan producing chips for a wide range of applications, including artificial intelligence.
PSMC produces legacy logic and memory chips. It had a 1% global share for foundry services in the October-December quarter, placing it eighth in the world, according to Taiwanese research company TrendForce.
