Nvidia's AI dominance leaves Intel and AMD scrapping to be No. 2
PALO ALTO, California -- Nvidia is on a roll, reporting that revenue more than tripled for the third straight quarter and touting a rosy outlook for the rest of the year. But rivals are accelerating their push to dethrone -- or at least gain ground on -- the U.S. chipmaker that has become synonymous with the AI boom.
A flurry of announcements this week underscored the ongoing ascent of AI. OpenAI, Microsoft and Google all unveiled -- or promised -- more powerful AI models, better human-AI interaction and even all-purpose virtual assistants that can do everything from play video games to handle the weekly shopping.
