Japan's chipmaker Rapidus to get government guarantee for loans
TOKYO -- The Japanese government will seek guaranteeing loans for the Tokyo-backed chipmaker Rapidus to support the mass-production of advanced semiconductors.
The Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry will present a plan for a bill on Friday, aiming to guarantee loans to Rapidus, which is trying to mass-produce advanced chips in the northern island of Hokkaido by 2027, with an estimated budget of 5 trillion yen ($31 billion).
