Japan newspaper association calls for legal reform to curb AI search
TOKYO -- The Japan Newspaper Publishers & Editors Association on Wednesday criticized generative AI search engines for copyright infringement, calling on the government to amend laws to protect intellectual property rights.
The association has previously called for permission to be obtained when using news content for training generative artificial intelligence. As AI services have continued to expand with no change to the status quo, it is again sounding the alarm on copyright infringement.
