Iran attack on Israel sows Asian fears of wider war
TOKYO -- Asia on Sunday reacted with alarm to a dramatic escalation of tensions in the Middle East, as Iran lobbed explosive drones and missiles in its first direct attack on Israel.
The U.S. and many Western allies immediately condemned Iran's move, amid fears that it could mark a dangerous widening of the conflict that has shaken the Middle East and the world over the last six months, including severe disruptions to shipping in the Red Sea.
