Hong Kong's High Court will hear a winding-up petition for troubled Chinese property developer Evergrande Group. In December, lawyers representing the company put forward a new restructuring proposal, with the court urging Evergrande to work with creditors.
Marcos to Vietnam
Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. embarks on his first state visit to Vietnam, in a bid to solidify relations between the two Southeast Asian neighbors. Both nations share maritime claims in the contested South China Sea, an area facing frequent security challenges from Beijing. The two countries are expected to sign an agreement on beefing up maritime cooperation in the face of rising tensions.
They are also set to sign an agreement on rice trade that would help the Philippines address supply concerns in times of crisis.
