Australia to spend $372m on resource mapping to stoke energy transition
SYDNEY -- Australia will spend more than $370 million to map mineral deposits as part of efforts to boost sectors important to the green energy transition, Prime Minister Anthony Albanese said on Wednesday, even as the government faces fresh questions about the effectiveness of its industrial policy.
Speaking in Perth, the capital of the mining-heavy state of Western Australia, Albanese said the long-term investment of 566.1 million Australian dollars ($372 million) will deliver data, maps and tools to point the resource industry to new discoveries.
