Australia taps Amazon for $1.3bn 'top secret' cloud storage system
SYDNEY -- U.S. tech giant Amazon will build a cloud storage system for "top secret" information for Australia's military and intelligence agencies, Defence Minister Richard Marles announced on Thursday.
Marles said the system would cost 2 billion Australian dollars ($1.3 billion) over 10 years and be in place by 2027. The new system will boost interoperability with the U.S but remain "fully sovereign," with data held in secure facilities in Australia, he told reporters.
