U.N. sanctions on North Korea have been losing their bite

SEOUL -- Economic sanctions imposed by the United Nations on North Korea have been losing their impact.

Despite a series of ballistic missile launches by Pyongyang, the U.N. Security Council has been unable to pass any new resolutions against the country for more than six years due to discord in the international community. North Korea has also been exploiting this disarray to evade existing sanctions by strengthening ties with Russia and using cyberattacks to secure funds and supplies.
