Thai PM Srettha, Singapore Deputy PM Gan to speak at Future of Asia forum
TOKYO -- The second day of Nikkei's flagship annual conference, the Future of Asia, will kick off with a session with Srettha Thavisin, prime minister of Thailand.
Srettha, a former property tycoon, was elected last year to be the first Thai leader in nearly a decade without a military background.
Next on the agenda is Gan Kim Yong, Singapore's deputy prime minister. He was just appointed to his role this month as part of new Prime Minister Lawrence Wong's cabinet. Gan is also a trade minister and chairman of the Monetary Authority of Singapore.
Indonesia's Airlangga Hartarto, coordinating minister for economic affairs, is set to speak in the afternoon. The session is followed by former Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad and Indian External Affairs Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar.
From the business world, executives from Indonesian startup Evermos and Japanese chemical company Teijin will attend.
This year's event brings political leaders, academics and executives together in Tokyo under the theme of "Asian leadership in an uncertain world."
