Thai opposition leader pushes to stop court-ordered party dissolutions
BANGKOK -- The leader of Thailand's new progressive opposition has called for the ruling Pheu Thai party's cooperation on a constitutional amendment to protect political parties from court-ordered dissolution, in a bid to stabilize the nation.
People's Party leader Nattaphong Ruengpanyawut said such certainty was needed to support economic growth, which has floundered to below 5% each year since 2012, and ensure its benefits are equitably distributed.
