Malaysia’s Johor state reverting to Saturday-Sunday weekend after 11 years
In a statement on Monday, Johor Regent Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim announced that the change will take effect from January 1, 2025.
He also mentioned that he had asked Johor’s chief minister, Onn Hafiz Ghazi, and the Johor mufti to discuss and examine the matter thoroughly.
“I hope that the private sector, the government, and relevant parties will allow sufficient time and space for Muslim workers to perform Friday prayers accordingly,” he said.
