10 years after Jim Beam deal, Suntory drops bourbon name from U.S. unit
NEW YORK -- A decade after its $16 billion acquisition by Suntory Holdings, the U.S. distiller behind Jim Beam bourbon has deleted "Beam" from the unit's name to clarify its core role in the Japanese company's global strategy.
The former Beam Suntory is now Suntory Global Spirits. Product names, such as Jim Beam bourbon, will continue unchanged.
