At a ceremony held at the Presidential Palace on July 18, Widodo swore in Prabowo’s nephew, Thomas Djiwandono, as second deputy finance minister and named Sudaryono, a senior member of Prabowo’s Gerindra party, as deputy agriculture minister.
In an Instagram post on Sunday night, Prabowo, 72, revealed he had undergone a “major operation” related to an injury to his left leg sustained during parachuting incidents while he served in the military in the 1980s.
Prabowo, 72, won the election by a substantial margin of votes, but his rivals – former governors Anies Baswedan and Ganjar Pranowo – had sought his disqualification and a revote through the Constitutional Court.
